BETTY ARENDS Obituary

Betty Joyce Arends, 82, of DeKalb, Ill., passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.
She was born Dec. 16, 1926, in Lee, the daughter of Mylo L. and Lillie M. (Johnson) Kittleson. Betty married James L. Arends on Nov. 22, 1975, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Lee.
Betty graduated from DeKalb High School and worked as a waitress at the DeKalb Elks Club for 15 years, for Art Krupp Accounting for 27 years, for Robert Clausen C.P.A. for 10 years, for Scott Chilton C.P.A. for 10 years, and for River Heights Golf Course for five years as a manager. She was a lifetime member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Lee, member of the Ladies of the Elks and of the Women's Bowling Association.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; her children, Phyllis (Joe) Barshinger of Shabbona, Wayne (Debby) Davey of Leland and Gerald (Lita) Davey of Fort Worth, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jonie, Kelley, Ryan, Amy, Andrew, Andrea, Jacquelyn and Katelyn; nine great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Connor, Jonathan, Abigail, Anna, Lillie, Walter Jr., Kelvin and Kennedy; one sister, Marilyn Magnuson of Sycamore; several nieces and nephews; her daughter-in-law, Dian Davey of DeKalb; two stepchildren, Jessie (Chuck) Munz and Forsythia (Robert) Keller; one step-granddaughter, Tracie Munz; one step-grandson, Tim Munz; and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Barry Davey; infant sons, Roger and Gary Davey; and her brother, Mervin "Slim" Kittleson.
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Calvary Lutheran Church in rural Lee, with the Rev. Wayne Derber officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at Anderson Funeral Home, 2011 S. Fourth St. in DeKalb.
