LUKE HIPPS Obituary
Born April 4, 1931, in Greeneville, Tenn., the son of Grover and Emmaline (Coates) Hipps, he married Gertrude A. Ringel on Aug. 9, 1997, in Sycamore.
Luke was an accomplished machinist, retiring from Barber Greene/Catepillar in 2002, after 42 years. He enjoyed art, woodworking, gardening, bluegrass music and had an affection for animals.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gertrude Hipps; daughter, Tammy (Hipps) Judkins; stepdaughter, Karen (Ringel) Love; stepsons, John Ringel, Hermann Ringel and Karl (Dayna) Ringel Jr.; sisters, Ruth Arington and Ollie Belle Vaughn; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Hipps; stepson, Ronald Ringel; eight brothers; and a sister.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb. Burial of cremated remains will follow at a later date at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Anderson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Luke Hipps Memorial Fund, in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 S. Fourth St., DeKalb, IL 60115.

Gert & Family - so very sorry to hear of Luke's passing. He was special to me; he was a quiet, unassuming, gentle, sweet uncle, and he was kind to us children. Wish we could come but it is impossible for me/us to get there at this time. I am Bob's eldest daughter.
