Alexander Iorio Obituary

Alexander T. Iorio, III

Alexander T. Iorio, III went to his heavenly reward on Nov. 29, 2012 at age 64. Alec was a larger than life character. Local residents may recall his rousing performances as the king at Medieval Times in Buena Park. An actor, director, writer and dialect coach as a young man, he was awarded his B.A. in theatre from Webster University and enjoyed a professional acting career in New York and Chicago. He received his M.A. in theatre from The University of Denver, also pursuing Ph.D. studies. With his broad general knowledge, he taught undergraduates at The University of Denver and locally at El Camino College and was a contestant on "Jeopardy" twice. He was born in Manila, Philippines where his father was stationed after WWII. His parents soon settled in St. Louis, where Alec grew up. He visited his parents in retirement in San Antonio, TX, loved the area and stayed. Here he met his wife of 36 years, Pamela, where both were active in theatre. Shortly after marriage, they moved to Redondo Beach to pursue dreams of opening a theatre and acting careers. Alec was a member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors' Equity. He was active in The Heinlein Society and at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, serving as senior warden, selecting Rectors, teaching Sunday School, and serving on the Episcopal Bishop's Standing Committee. At the time of his death, he was employed as an Editor at Gistnet, provider of import/export training. The family wishes to thank Kevin Maloney, owner, his fellow employees at Gistnet, Rev. Bonnie Brandon and members of St. Andrew's for their kindness and support. Alec is survived by his wife, Pamela, & son, Alex, both of Redondo Beach; sister, Mercedes Haynie of Dunedin, FL; brother Al Iorio of San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law Cynthia Gorham of Houston, TX; brother-in-law and wife, John & Meg Gorham of Laguna Hills; three nieces, a nephew and a great-niece. Alec's memorial service is Sat., Dec. 15 at 2:00 PM at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 1432 Engracia Ave., Torrance, CA 90501, (310) 328-3781. Please sign the guestbook

Pam,I was so sad to read of your husbands passing. He was such a nice man. I remember him well from St. Andrews and we saw him as the King at Medieval Times; he was a great king.

Alex, I'm so sorry to read about your dad's passing. I remember him picking you up from school. I hope you are doing well. I wonder if you still collect stamps? Mrs.Jan Barber (5th Grade Teacher)
