Dorothy Easley Obituary

Dorothy I. Easley, 83, passed away in Torrance, CA on October 13, 2010. She was born in South Bend, Indiana. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Cecil; her children, Cynthea Easley of Riverside, CA, Lisa (Marty) Rehbein of Huntington Beach, CA, Eric Easley of San Pedro, CA, James Easley of the world; and 3 grandchildren, Ryan, Steffi, Molly; and her brother, James Rouhselang of South Bend. In 1956, Dorothy and her friend, Francis hopped in "Dot's" 1953 Buick and headed west for Hollywood, CA in hopes of finding employment. Dot met Cecil Easley when her roommate and friend Francis began dating Cecil's roommate. Dot and Cecil hit it off and were married February 20, 1960 in Westchester, CA. They began their life together in a modest apartment in Hawthorne while she worked as a secretary for TRW. Cecil was working for Packard Bell at the time and was soon transferred to Thousand Oaks, CA. Dot and Cecil eventually moved there when Dot was expecting their first child. They purchased their first home in Carson, CA and Cecil began working for TRW, which meant Dot was able to stay home and raise four wonderful children. In 1973, Dot and her family hopped on a plane headed for the land down under, Alice Springs, Australia where Cecil continued his career with TRW. An avid golfer all of her life, she rediscovered her passion for golf and bridge while in Australia. She made lifelong friends there in just three short years. Dot and family returned to the states in 1977 and settled in Torrance, CA. Dot enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, cooking, and of course, doing crossword puzzles. She was one smart lady! She will be missed by all, including her lovable dog, Daisy. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits. I remember Dorothy fondly first when we lived on Millmont St. in Carson. My daughter, Jan, and Cindy were good friends. We moved out of state in '69 and returned in'75 locating in Torrance. Dorothy found me again and we played golf weekly. She was a lovely person, and am sure she is greatly missed.
