Jack Neal Donato

Jack N. Donato, a longtime resident of San Pedro died Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Jack died peacefully at his home at the age of 74. He was born May 28, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York, son of Giovan and Milan Donato. Jack and his family moved to San Pedro at an early age, where he attended Cabrillo Elementary School, Dana Middle School and graduated from San Pedro High School. He became a commercial fisherman, owner of The Karen D and My Way boats, worked at McCowan's Market (1st Street Store), founded The Crab Pot in Carson, CA., later establishing the Crusty Crab in Ports O' Call Village, and finally retiring in 1992. Jack was preceded in death by brother, Frank Donato; sister, Rose Helms and daughter, Giovanna Machi Poole. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Nancy; children, Michael Donato (Shelley), Victoria Donato, Rosalie Perazzola (Vince), Domenic Machi (Geraldine), Antonio Machi; grandchildren, Michael Neal Donato, Vincent and Francesca Perazzola, Christopher and Lauren Machi, William (Billy) Poole, Natalie Heron, Jonathan, Megan, Juliana and Audriana Donato, and Brandi Willis; sister, Mary Prevatt; brothers, Antonio Donato (Isabel), Joseph Donato (Jean); 4 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jack will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor. The family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation to Dr. David Campisi, Dr. Ram Reddy, Dr. Sarwat Mahmud and their office staffs, as well as the staff of the ER, I.C.U., 2 West at LCMH-San Pedro. Please join us for a celebration of his life. A Vigil Service will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2010, 7:00 pm at McNerney's Mortuary Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, October 4, 2010, 10:30 am at Mary Star of the Sea Church followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Sunday, 4:00-7:00pm at McNerney's Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Jack's name to the American Heart Association, 816 S.
