Victoria Langling Obituary

Victoria Langling WOODSTOCK-In Loving Memory of Victoria Langling. It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of Victoria Langling, a dedicated wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend to all. She passed away Wednesday, April 5th 2017 surrounded by her loved ones at Northern Dutchess Hospital. Victoria was born in Miami, Florida on May 31st 1956. Upon moving to Woodstock in 1979, Victoria quickly became loved by all as an indispensable member of the community. She was an integral part of the Markertek and Tower Products family for over 23 years. She leaves us with a storied history and legacy of community service touching the lives of thousands of Ulster County residents in a very meaningful way whether it was feeding the hungry, improving our schools or promoting tourism. Victoria, in conjunction with Markertek founder Mark Braunstein, co-founded Daily Bread Soup Kitchen in Woodstock. She would add to this role by co-founding the Markertek Open Charity Golf Tournament, which has become an annual source of over $35,000 a year to benefit the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. Victoria is an icon of community spirit. She was honored by the New York State Senate with a Woman of Distinction award in 2009. She served on the Advisory Board of the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, Honorary Board of Ulster Literacy and was a PTA Jenkins honoree for her eight years of service at West Hurley Elementary. Victoria was a Legislative appointee and board chair for the Workforce Investment Board. She served on boards for the School to Work Partnership, the Children’s Annex Foundation and UC Food Pantry Consortium. She has been recognized by the YWCA, Onteora DECA and Onteora Teacher’s Association for community service. She has organized the ‘Donations of Dignity’ personal care drive over 10 years, co-coordinated the Volunteer and Community Showcase, was the Volunteer Coordinator for the Women’s Health & Fitness Expo, a volunteer of the Woodstock Film Festival, and more. Victoria was known for her heart and her humor. An avid enthusiast for making people laugh, spreading love and peace, and supporting all around her, Victoria is preceded in death by her father Ralph Parlato. She is survived by her mother Jewell Moncada, her husband and partner in life for 33 years, John Langling, her son Nicholas James Langling, her daughter Katharine Rae Langling and her son-in-law Benjamin Squires, her brother Michael Parlato, her sister Maryellen Gould (Tim Gould), her sister Sandy Sherrill (Lee Sherrill), her stepmother Pauline Parlato, stepsister Kristen Ebert, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. As we reflect upon her spirited humor, her deep sense of community and helpfulness, and her commitment to family and friends, may our hearts be full of joy for having known her. The family will be receiving friends and family on Tuesday, April 11th from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lasher’s Funeral Home in Woodstock, N.Y. A celebration to honor the life of Victoria Langling will be held 11 a.m. on Wed., April 12th at Christ’s Lutheran Church, 26 Mill Hill Road, Woodstock, N.Y. at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen care of Christ’s Lutheran Church.

What a blow!

Victoria and I may first have met at the Caring Hands Soup Kitchen.

Then she would join the many not-for-profits finding ways to work together at Bringing Agencies Together.
And many of us volunteered for the Woman's Expo for years.
And a tireless worker for Volunteer Day, year after year.

A shining light beaming goodness out from our region.
A belated heartfelt thank you
and deep condolences to the entire family,
Ruth

Dear John and family,
I'm so sorry. We have lost such a beautiful person. She was so proud of her children, everytime I met her she would boast about them and show me pictures. I will miss bumping into her and seeing her smiling face.

Victoria and I volunteered numerous times at both the Woodstock Volunteers Day and the Women's Health Day. I know she also gave of her time to other non-profits. She was a tireless worker and organizer, for which I had great respect. Her prescience will be deeply missed in our community. My deepest condolences to your family.

John and Family, I'm so sorry. Just so sorry. I'm at a loss for words. It was just a few weeks ago that my husband and I were driving and bored. I pulled up Vicki's Facebook, and we laughed for an hour. Love and prayers from Nancy Morehouse Reynolds in Colorado.
