Elise Brigham Obituary

Elise K. Brigham KINGSTON- My mom, Elise K. Brigham, left our world on Nov. 28, 2017. She was 93. Her illness was short-lived, but it prevented her from interacting with her many friends which affected her greatly. Mom was born in New York City on Feb. 9, 1924 to Austrian immigrants. She went to Friends Seminary and was in the class of 1945 at Swarthmore College. She had a long, rich, adventurous life. She was full of mischief until the day she died. She was a remarkable and unconventional woman. As a kid of 12 she decided it was time to drive. That didn’t go well when she had to call a tow truck. She cut down trees, hunted, and was an avid skier. She was a (widowed) single Mom for most of our lives. Later in life she travelled all over the world. She had a file folder full of Volunteer-of-the-Year awards. And while she could be a “grumpy pants,” she always had a kind word or hello; she welcomed many people into her life. Elise is survived by two daughters: Joan-Carol Brigham of Frisco, COolo., and Elise-Elaine Brigham of Charlottesville, Va. A memorial service will be held at a later date. She loved wolves and had “adopted” two of them. Please consider making a memorial contribution in Elise K. Brigham’s name to Mission Wolf, P.O. Box 1211, Westcliffe, Colo., 81252, www.mission wolf.org, 719.859.2157.
