EUGENE GOLEC Obituary

Eugene J. "Gene" Golec of Cary Eugene J. "Gene" Golec, 74, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at Pepper Family Hospice Unit in Barrington. He was born May 25, 1937, in Chicago, the son of Joseph and Josephine Golec. They preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Kathleen "Kay" Golec (nee Brunner), whom he married Aug. 23, 1958, in Chicago; three children, Nancy (Daniel) Kellner, Daniel Golec and Anthony (Laura) Golec; six grandchildren, Rachel Trnka, Mason Kellner, Melissa Kellner, Molly Kellner Nicholas Golec and Benjamin Golec; and a great-grandchild, Daniel Gene Gensel. He was the fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was a member of the American Legion in Des Plaines and a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 30, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 410 First St., Cary. A funeral Mass will be Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in St. John Nepomucene Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the American Cancer Society. Our prayers are with you at this time. We got to know Gene at Mass in Kansas City when he was in town to see Tony and Laura. He was a grand man and very proud of his son and grandsons.
