Richard L. Lawrence

Richard L. Lawrence died peacefully on February 8, 2018 in Costa Mesa, California at the age of 93. He is survived by his wife Robin Lawrence, his sister Lynn Hay, daughter Anne Greer and her husband Jay Greer, son Jay Lawrence and his wife Sylvia Velsquez Lawrence, granddaughters Maya Lawrence and Ariel Lawrence and her husband Nicholas Brulois and granddaughters Sarah and Alice Brulois.Milestone positions held in his career included Art Director at Wes Marquis Advertising, Advertising Manager for Baxter Pharmaceutical, Gianini Electronics, and Hughes Aircraft Semiconductor Division. In 1965 he founded Marketing Directions, Inc., an advertising and marketing agency which enjoyed ongoing success and growth for 23 years until his retirement.He was a lifelong sailor, making bluewater passages across the Atlantic and Pacific as well as racing and cruisng the Pacific coast, Carribean, New England and the South Seas. He served as Commodore for Balboa Yacht Club in 1993 and Staff Commodore for the following thirty five years. He was extremely proud to be nominated and accepted to the Cruising Club of America and held the position of historian with CCA for many years.Above all, he was devoted to his wife Robin and his entire family, including them in every aspect of his life and showing them the world.He was dearly loved in life and will be deeply missed in passing.
