Rev. Ambrose made a huge impact on my life & provided a remarkable experience to all of my fellow youth choir members at Parkview during the 70's. Memories of his direction of the choir & the singing-ministry trips he meticulously organized that took us to Ridgecrest, Canada, Florida with stops in Johns Island SC, Georgia & Disney World remain inspirational stories told and retold for many years. I always loved Sunday evening choir practice, followed by a snack prepared by the mothers (he loved Mrs. Gaines' sloppy joes!); Sometimes after evening service, he would play robust songs on the church organ, all to the delight of the kids!
My sweet mother, Ginny Buchanan, loved him, his friendship and his singing. In her funeral instructions was the request for 'Don Ambrose to sing How Great Thou Art' at her Parkview service, just as he had done so many times in the sanctuary. He sang her to heaven with his robust voice.
Heaven has gained an angel. To his dear family, may you be comforted by the inspiration he brought to so many and the joyful song he left in our hearts. I know his melodious self is watching over us until we can join him in heaven's choir. God bless you in the days ahead. Fondly,

I have been affected in the most wonderful way, by this man, as a young teen at Parkview Baptist. Being in the youth choir, he taught me so much about music, that has even continued almost 45 years later as I took a music appreciation class in college. Thank you for sharing him all these years. I know he is singing and leading in Heaven.

Isn't it wonderful to see and read all of the responses paying respect to a wonderful and loving man, Reverend Ambrose! He glorified Jesus, and led many to accept Jesus as their savior. Yes he will be missed by his wonderful family, but also his Christian family. I am sure Donald is leading the choir in Heaven, and glorifying our precious God. Thank you father for giving me a chance to be his friend a long time ago. He touched my life as well as thousands of others. God bless you all, and as we all know, Donald will remain in our memories forever.

Carla, Tammie, Tal, Margie, and family,
How saddened we were to learn of your father and husband's passing. What a magnificent addition to the heavenly choir! No doubt, Don is leading there. We were members of Parkview in the 70's and 80's, during which it was my honor and privilege to work with him and under his direction in the choir. What glorious music he led us to perform. His pure joy and love of the Lord was evident not only in his music ministry, but also on his face and in his daily walk. He was an inspiration and mentor to many. Our sympathy and prayers go out to the entire family. His legacy will be continued by his talented and beautiful children of whom he was so proud. Thank you all for sharing this wonderful man of God. This joy that he had, the world didn't give it, and the world couldn't take it away!
Love,
Carolyn & Bob Blake

Love to the Ambrose Family and our deepest Sympathy. We have so many memories of Don that its hard not to write a book. But the one thing that always linger in our mind is how he greeted those he had just met. After a few minutes you would hear these words "Do you love Jesus?" And with it was that show in his face of the love that he felt for people. I know that you will let our LORD comfort and give you peace.

Our hearts break with you as you grieve the loss of your wonderful husband and father. Don was truly a man of God and we were so blessed to know him and your family. He sang and played the organ at our wedding in 1982 at the Parkview Chapel. I was so blessed to see him several weeks ago as he was in Kohls patiently waiting for his beloved Margie. Mr. Ambrose took me and many others to Canada to sing "Tell It Like It Is". I was 13. I wrecked my mini bike the next year and he was the first person I saw when I woke up two days later. He told me he loved me and I knew he did. He was such a Great example for everyone to follow. My Mom loved him for keeping me busy until I got my driver's license. I loved singing with him and I remember all to camp songs from many trips to Music Camp. I know we will all rejoice with him again and he will be singing for us. I love you Mr. Ambrose. Rest in Peace and enjoy your reward in Heaven while we wait to see you again.

Donald was one of the most influential men in my life. He was like a father to us youth of Providence Baptist Church of the 1980s and many that followed us. I can only hope to be half the Christian that he was. He officiated my wedding and was always there for me when ever I needed guidance or some good old fatherly advice. He will be really missed. I'm blessed to have had him as a part of my life. I look forward to the day when he can once again lead me in that heavenly choir.
