I loved Nurse James and Richard was a friend in high school. I am sorry I could not attend her service but can remember being "sick" with her and laughing when it hurt. She lived a full life and may we all be so blessed to have such wonderful things said about us when we are gone. May the family continue to laugh and share as her wonderful legacy. God Bless.

Mrs. James made all of Rich's friends of every stripe feel so very welcome at their home. It was a warm place. I have a co-worker here in Miami whose wife attended Pembroke. The one person in all of Hampton we had in common was Mrs. James, a happy coincidence.. My condolences to the James family.

Nurse James was more than a school nurse. She was a huge part of Pembroke High School; a friend, mother and confidant to so many kids who did not get that kind of attention at home. May memories of happier times and the love and support of family and friends bring you comfort. PHS Class of 1978

Sharon--I was so saddened to see this in the paper just now. I called Pearl to let her know, she had already spoken to you. Thinking about you all at such a tough time.

Being in your home around Mo was always somewhat magical. I always felt something funnysneaky funnymight happen at any moment, and usually did. What a wonderful, loving spirit. And it's clear from all that's been written that love continues to surround her still.

Nurse James was as much a part of PHS as any student. She was an integral part of everyday life. She always had a kind word, a smile and a joke for students. My sincerest sympathies to her family.

Mo was a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. I work at First United Methodist Church in Hampton, where she was always volunteering. She'd often stop by the church office with an off-colored joke or a great story. She will be missed.

Sharon,Randy,Steve, and Richard (Rich), My breath was taken from me this morning as I saw that your Mom had passed. Mrs James was the best at everything and I have nothing but fond memories of playing basketball on Mohawk, having lunch, and talking with your Mom and her beloved, Mr.James. May your pain resolve to the love and fond memories that you all shared. She is the finest and I'm sure our Father welcomed her with loving arms saying "Well Done".
Sincerely with love and respect,
Eric

How lucky we were as teenagers at Pembroke High School to have Nurse James in our lives! She was more than just the school nurse - cheerleader, counselor, confidant, friend, and even our 2d Mom. Nurse James gave so much to the students at Pembroke and I hope we gave as much back to her. Our Facebook Pembroke HS Alumni page is filled with tributes to this wonderful woman. Sharon, Randy, Steven, and Richard - thanks so much for sharing your Mom with us. Her legacy lives on in the hundreds of Pembroke HS alumni.

"MO" what a beautiful sweet funny treasure we have lost. I have so many memories of you in high school and at the church later helping my niece's at camp. In high school you really helped me , by just listening to me when my parents were getting a divorce. I know you have heaven smiling and know that you will be greatly missed.
