Peter KENNEDY Obituary
Born in California and raised in Ohio and Pennsylvania, he was a graduate of Tunkhannock Area High School and earned a degree in engineering from Penn State Lehman. A U.S. Navy veteran, Pete enlisted in 1978, earning the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer prior to his retirement; he was employed by Northrop Grumman Newport News Shipbuilding.
He was the son of Charles and Sally Kennedy of Scranton, Pa.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, the former Annette Sichler and sons, Peter and Ian; brothers, Mark and his wife, Marita of Newnan, Ga., David of Lake Winola, John and his wife, Bobbi of Washington state; sister, Kathleen Maier and her husband, Arch of Nicholson; an aunt; as well as several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A celebration of Pete's life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at Bayport Credit Union.

I am sorry to just now find out what happened to Pete. I served with him on the USS Enterprise in #3 main machinery room back in the early 1980's. He was my LPO, and left a positive impression on me to this day. May he be with God and rest in peace.

I was overseas last week when I heard the sad news of Pete's passing. I had the honor and privilege to serve with Pete onboard USS ENTERPRISE back in the 1990s. Pete was a great guy and a great shipmate. He will be missed.

Pete was a great shipmate and it was an honor serving with him what seems now like so many years ago. I had the good fortune to serve with Pete and his brother John, a great American family. My family sends prayers for Pete's.

One of the kindest most thoughtful, sweet guys I have ever known -growing up next door to him at Lake Winola PA. I have the Japanese silk screens you gave Larry and I as a wedding gift 27 yrs ago. I will never forget you.

I hade the privilege of serving with Pete on USS Harry S. Truman. He was an exceptional individual achieving Bridge qualifications while still handling his many Reactor Department duties. He was a good shipmate and will be missed by all who knew him.

Pete was a friend and colleague who will be greatly missed. He was one of the most positive people I have ever known who was thankful for the gifts that he had been given. All my thoughts go out to his wife Annette and sons Peter and Ian. I am wearing a tinfoil hat in your memory.
