You're Mom & Dad were very good friends with my Mom & Dad quite a few years ago, beginning in 1946. I got to know Shirley better when my Mom was sick. We had quite a few long talks on the phone. I enjoyed our conversations so much. Dad & I got to visit with her and Raymond while we were visiting my cousin in Newport News. They were a lovely couple and I feel very blessed to have known them both. Dad & I send our sincere sympathy along with much love and prayers to all her family. We just found out tonight that she had passed. May God give you peace and comfort in your loss.

Bobby, I am still blessed to have both of my parents, but it is through your loss that I can see the pain I will feel one day. There is no greater loss than a parent or a child and you have suffered through this pain on more than one occasion, including the loss of your sister. I know I cannot take the pain away, but rest assured if there is anything you need just ask and I will do my best for you and your family. Just remember, your mother was/is a christian and that is permanent and now she is with your father and sister in the presence of God and NO MORE PAIN! God Bless You and Your Family and I will see you soon. Your Friend For Life! Harry Byrd

Dear Sandy and family:
I am so glad that I had the pleasure
of knowing your dear mother. She was
such a delightful person and so much
fun to be around. I will never forget
the time she came to my house for dinner (May of this year) and what
a joy it was to have her over that
evening with my friends. We talked and
laughed for hours. I will miss seeing
her in church. She always had a hug
for me. Shirley is now with God and all of his angels . May God
bless you and your family during this
sad time in your lives.

Growing up, Shirley was my second mama. I will never forget the time I sassed her and she threatened to spank me. Of course, back then, a good friend and neighbor could! I loved Shirley dearly and was so shocked to see she had passed, especially when I just talked with her in July. I know she is with Linda, Raymond and James now; just where she wants to be. My heart goes out to the family! I know your loss as she and my mom, Ruth, where a very very BIG part of our lives.

I Love you all, Denise
