I miss you, Dad....tears fall often...especially when I look at the very few photos I have...my heart aches...it seems like a million years but the pain in my heart hurts just as it did the day I found out....there is no closure....and sometimes I am lost...

I can't remember the year, but Officer Fannin saved my life! I was driving the wrong way down a one-way street in Newport News when he pulled me over just as the light was changing to let a whole lot of cars roll into me! He gave me a ticket, so I was able to thank him personally when we saw one another again at court. His is the first image in my mind when I think of a policeman. I just found out about our loss today, which is why this note is so late. Please accept these tardy but most heart-felt condolences.

I'm an old Friend of Linda's and we were very close at one time when she lived in Newport News. She was in the delivery room with me during the birth of my son who is now 26. We lost touch when our lives took separate paths. I just searched for her and found this obituary. My heart is so broken that I waited so long to reach out. Linda and Clyde were such wonderful people. I know they will forever touch lives of many no matter how much time goes by. You are forever in my heart my dear friend.

Hi Dad....today has been an emotional day for me....I miss you so horribly & I just cannot get past the hurt...my entire world shattered on 4.16.10...I went to Ciity Hall and stood beside the bronzed police officer...gently tracing the names inscribed....I read the poem, & as if on cue, the heavens opened up and poured rain on me...the rain mixed in with my tears....I miss you Dad....I love you too.... xo.

A good happy feast in honor of your B-Day at good ole 65 years!!!
July 12, 2010
made this with the kids, dad liked sea creatures, so we did the sea turtle for him. Added shells for Linda as jewelery.
July 12, 2010
Dads B-Day we pretty good, we brought he and Linda out for a evening feast done in their honor. Had the Chef fix Lindas Hoppin Jack and we ate taters, steaks, yummy deserts and we told funny things you shared with us while you were alive. Things are much better now and I am ready to face what needs to be dealt with in the future, even if this gets done in court and is dragged out. I was able to now move this from a personal issue to a business transaction. Love and miss you both, Josh and Jess pry to you, Josh always ask me to tell nana that he loves her just in case his voice is to soft to be heard. God speed to everyone involved in this matter, Love Jason Fannin

I knew Linda years ago when she bowled in the Fun Bunch in Newport News, she always had a smile on her face. I remember seeing her one day and she told me she was moving and how much in love she was, I was so happy for her; she deserved to be in love and happy. I am so sorry for the loss of Linda and Clyde but at least they will always be together.

I miss Dad and Linda deeply, as they both were wonderful folks. I will miss Linda for her gentle/kind nature and a person that could find good in everyone. She was a wonderful friend to me, and loved my children as grand kids. Dad loved the kids as well, and I will miss his silly faces behind Linda's back as well as his deep thoughts which he left you hanging if it was advice/joke/serous. They are still wonderful people looking down on us now. God Bless them!!

I attended church with Clyde & Linda. Ive read all these entries, and theyre summed up quite simply...They were full of love, and hearts of gold. Clyde, gentle yet rough, and Linda a light on a dark day. I believe they would have done anything to help anyone.
We prayed together, and we cried together. Theyll never be forgotten, and always held close.
Youre in the hands of God now, youre at home.
Deepest love and prayers to all touched by these two "good people".

Clyde was the kind of man that ledgens have been made of. A big man, kind and gentle but rugged when he had to be. Honest to a fault, always there to "give a hand up not a hand out" to anyone who may need it. He touched so many lives in a positive way. A man that loved life. Thank You Lord for Sharing this man with so many people. May God give comfort to the families of this wonderful couple. You are all in my prayers.

I never met Linda or Clyde, but felt I knew them through my long friendship with their daughter-in-law Danielle. I've known their selfless love and support of others. That Love of God shining through them, when living and passing still lives and shines with peace and support for those who remain. That is eternal and cannot be broken and wipes our tears. My heart and spirit is also with you all during these difficult times.

Linda was a wonderful neighbor and friend. Kind, compassionate, and always ready to lend a hand. I remember when Linda and Clyde started dating. They were a great match, and I was so happy for them when they got married. Clyde taught me many things about gardening, the yard, and things around the house. I am proud to say that we were friends. I am praying for the family, and wish the very best to all of their survivors.

My sincere condolences to all the family. These deaths were a tragedy, but Clyde and Linda have saved others through their sacrifice. They were motivated by love alone to help a deeply troubled youth, and they should be honored for that. May God receive Clyde and Linda in His arms and give those left behind His grace, strength, and patience in this sad time.
