When I was a young PV2 in Finthen Germany Don was my platoon sergeant. He was my mentor and took me from PV2 to Sgt. He left us and went to BK but we always kept touch. After 20 years of service I look back and know that he was the best leader the Army had. I modeled my leadership after his. I was able to spend time with him in Newport News in 1987 and again in 1996. Every time we met, it was as if we had just seen each other yesterday. It crushes my heart to find out that he has passed. He left us on my 50th birthday while I was in Kandahar. I will miss him but I will never ever forget him.

Nun bleibt Dein Sessel leer.................
In großer Dankbarkeit – Familie Stephan Raabe, Immenhausen Germany.

Poppa Don...we've shared years of great conversations, parent-like rearing, and fond wishes of you wanting me to be a Washington Redskin lineman. Well, Dan Reeves, Joe Gibbs, nor Schneider gave me a call! Thanks for bringing a great family to the Hampton Roads area where I was able to adopt your sons as my brothers and your wife like a mother. You were loved while you were here and will continue to be loved! You've done your family proud! Take care of Cletis!
