Ella Hazelwood Brooks Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - On March 25,2016, Ella Mae Hazelwood Brooks,89, died with her 2 daughters holding her hands. She retired in 1988 from Newport News Shipbuilding where she worked as a reproduction clerk. She also enjoyed being an Avon representative. She was a life long member of the Noland Memorial United Methodist Church until its closing, when she became a member of the First United Methodist Church. She had been a member of the Green Oaks Home Demonstration Club. Ella was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Ethel Hazelwood, her husband Thomas J. Brooks, her son Thomas Jefferson Brookes III (Jeffrey), and her three brothers Leonard, Ray and Jimmy. Ella is survived by her daughters Lynda Brooks Rainey (Wayne) of Newport News and Dianne Brooks of Smithfield, her sister Betty Schoolar, her 4 legged grandson Mickey, and many loving family and friends, especially the furry ones. Visitation will be Tuesday March 29 at 11am and services at 12 noon at First United Methodist Church, 10246 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, 23601, internment at Greenlawn Memorial Park, reception to follow. If desired, memorials can be floral or a donation to the American Heart Assoc.

Dear Linda and Dianne, I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. May the Lord comfort you with His love and peace during this time. I saw her a year or 2 ago at Dean and Don's with Linda and it was nice seeing her again.
