He was a member of VFW Post 1827 and a charter member of the Disabled American Veterans Charlottesville Chapter 33.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Cecelia Durham Bruffey; two sons, Carroll William Bruffey III and his wife, Donna, of Charlottesville, and Rodney L. Bruffey and his girlfriend, Pat Vance, of Charlottesville; two daughters, Patricia F. Bruffey and Terresa Angles and her husband, Roy, of Charlottes-ville; three grandchildren, Lisa Wood of Charlottesville, Bridgette Palmer of Waynes-boro, and Christopher Bruffey of Pullman, Washington; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred B. Hensley and Harriett Hatfield; lifelong friend, Pete Stodgel of Troy; and his beloved pet Chihuahua, Billy Jack.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his son, Gregory.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Riverview Cemetery with the Reverend Edward Hopkins officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2008, at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home.

Daddy,
It's been one year today since you left us but it seems like yesterday. We miss you so much. I know you are not in pain now, and are watching over us. You are watching over us to make sure we choose the right choices in life now. We miss your smile and the little jokes, the chocolate chip cookies, the dressing, dumplings and the custard you made. The most important thing we miss are the words of advice and wisdom.
Keep watching over us because YOU are our little ANGEL.
We love and miss you sooo-much.
I know one day we will see you again.
Love you always,
Billy, Terresa, Pat, Rodney, Christopher, Cecelia, and
Billy Jack.
