Albert James Washington

Albert James Washington, 78, of Troy, died on Saturday, October 2, 2010, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was born on June 25, 1932, in Fluvanna County, a son of the late Albert Bates and Dora Ann Washington.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 43 years, MayBelle Washington of Troy; two sons, Carl E. Washington and his wife, Thelma, and Clarence Washington and devoted friend, Michelle, all of Troy; three daughters, Clara Washington and her husband, Russell Gaines, of Schuyler, Theresa Washington of Charlottesville, Karen Washington of Forestville, Maryland; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Washington and Clarence Otis Washington; one sister, Anna Lee Ragland; two grandchildren, Allen Bowles and MayBelle Bowles.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Springfield Baptist Church with interment to follow at the church cemetery. The Reverend James Washington will officiate.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Preddy Funeral Home of Gordonsville is in charge of arrangements.
