Allen Lee Richardson

On June 26, 1940, the Lord blessed Mr. and Mrs. Samuel and Martha M. Richardson of Palmyra, Virginia, with a son, Allen Lee Richardson, who departed this life for higher grounds on Friday, October 8, 2010, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Allen was educated in the Fluvanna County School System in Palmyra, Virginia. He worked in Charlottesville, Virginia, at the University of Virginia as a supervisor of the Housing Division for thirty plus years, from which he retired. He attended the Little Rock Holiness Church as a child and later the Burning Bush Christian Church.

He was preceded on a similar journey by three brothers, John, George, and Harold Richardson; one sister, Leona R. Frank; one nephew, Kelvin Keasley; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Richardson.

Allen leaves cherished everlasting memories with his loving wife of forty-nine years, Mrs. Darlene Young Richardson of Palmyra, Virginia; four children, Carolyn L. Richardson of Charlottesville, Virginia, Allen W. Richardson of Cedar Hill, Texas, Nancy T. Richardson of Chesterfield, Virginia, and Gary B. Richardson of Fork Union, Virginia; two grandchildren of Cedar Hill, Texas; two Godchildren, Mario T. and Marc R. Young of Amherst, Virginia; three brothers, James and Dorothy Richardson of Keswick, Virginia, Ottis F. Richardson of Palmyra, Virginia and Fred P. and Barbara Richardson of Palmyra, Virginia; three sisters, Ethel and James Robinson of Fort Washington, Maryland, Gertrude Keasley of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, and Barbara Murray of Hyattsville, Maryland; one brother-in-law, Micheal L. Young of Waynesboro, Virginia; six sisters-in-law, Shirley D. Roundtree of Palmyra, Virginia, Dorothy M. Young of Brooklyn, New York, Diana Young of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Evelyn M. Young of Amherst, Virginia, Christine Richardson of Keswick, Virginia, and Avis Richardson of Hopewell, Virginia; five aunts-in-law and one uncle-in-law, all of Palmyra, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends. He loved you all so very much.

Visitation at the funeral home will be held from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010, at New Fork Baptist Church, 16 New Fork Lane, Palmyra, Virginia. 434-842-2817. Interment will follow at Little Rock Holiness Church Cemetery on Haden Martin Road, Palmyra, Virginia 22963.

Professional services are entrusted to Thomasson Fork Union Chapel, Fork Union, VA 23055.
