Ballard Fulton Mawyer Jr.

Ballard Fulton Mawyer Jr., 63, of Crozet, died at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was born December 22, 1945, in Crozet, the son of the late Ballard Fulton Mawyer Sr. and Lottie Fitzgerald Mawyer.

He was preceded in death by a brother, William Mawyer.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Mawyer; and their children, Sandy Campbell and her husband, Mike, of Gordonsville, Shorty Mawyer and his wife, Tammy, of Crozet, Rhonda Bryant and her husband, Robert, of Free Union, Cheryl Madison and her husband, Sam, of Crozet, David Via of Charlottesville, and Jenny Buttry and her husband, Kenny, of Fluvanna; a sister, Lottie Harris of Crozet; a brother, Roger Lee Mawyer and his wife, Dorothy, of Crozet; brother-in-law, Christopher Miller of Boonesville; three sisters-in-law, Michelle Snead and Jenny Mawyer of Crozet and Ginny Stallings of Charlottesville; 10 grandchildren, Matthew, Sean and Hailey Mawyer, Justin and Chad Bryant, Chris, Kara and Cole Madison, and Paige and Danielle Buttry; and his special dog and constant companion, "Merkey".

Ballard was a truck driver for H. T. Ferron for 20 years.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009, at Hillsboro Baptist Church in Crozet with Dr. Alan Thompson officiating.

The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to HOPE, 459 Locust Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22902 or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5511 Staples Mill Road, Suite 202B, Richmond, VA 23228.

Anderson Funeral Home of Crozet is in charge of arrangements.
