Bertie Smith Oesterheld

Bertie Smith Oesterheld, 67, went to be with her Lord Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

She was born January 8, 1942, to the late Bernard N. and Opal L. Smith.

Also preceding her in death was her daughter, Sharon Annette Oesterheld and her father and mother-in-law, Yerby F. Oesterheld Sr. and Thelma H. Oesterheld.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Yerby F. "Lucky" Oesterheld Jr.; her daughter, Sheryl O. Haney and her husband, W. Keith Haney; her grandson, Joshua W. Haney and his wife, Lara R. Haney; her grandson, Jacob A. Haney and his special friend, Justine Newman; her sister, Shirley S. Breneman; her sister-in-law, Louise O. Seay and her husband, H. Douglas Seay; and a large extended family of many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her church family from Crooked Run Baptist Church.

She enjoyed taking care of others, gardening, playing bridge and being with her friends.

The family wishes to express gratitude for the loving and compassionate care she received from the staff on the 7th Floor at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 p.m. Sunday, October 25, 2009, at the Teague Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2009, at the Teague Funeral Home with the Reverend Karl Hrebik and Mr. Roger Browning officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Crooked Run Baptist Church Building Fund, 7351 James Madison Highway, Rapidan, VA 22733 or 20/20 Vision Ministries, c/o Kathy Davis, 2942 Boonesville Road, Free Union, VA 22940

Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. Steve had many fond memories of your family and the little store. We lost him in August 2008 to cancer. My prayers are with your family as you go through this very difficult time.
