Beverly Louise Williams Young

Beverly Louise Williams Young, 75, of Charlottesville and Columbia, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2009, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Bland County, Virginia, on March 18, 1934, the daughter of the late Levator Samuel Fortner and Mary Ellen Bevil Fortner. She was also predeceased by her first husband, William Eugene Williams; and her brother, Samuel Junior Fortner.

Survivors include her husband of 12 years, James R. Young; her son, Alan E. Williams and his wife, Sheila, of Charlottesville; her daughter, Delores Sue Pascarella and her husband, Philippe, of Scottsville; and three sisters, Elva Jean Young, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Georgia Esther Woods, and Diane Leigh Fortner, both of Independence, Virginia. Also surviving her are an uncle, William Bevil of Ceres, Virginia; and a step grandchild, Christopher Bankard of Charlottesville.

A visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009, at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Charlottesville First Assembly with Pastor Peter Hartwig officiating.

A funeral service will be held at Bland Funeral Home, in Bland, Virginia, 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009, with the Reverend Sam Shupe officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until the service. Interment will follow immediately at Morning Star Cemetery in Bland, Virginia.

Bland Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.

The family expresses their extreme gratitude to Hospice of the Piedmont and to the University of Virginia Cancer Center, for their kind and compassionate care during Beverly's final journey.
