Charles Williams Obituary

Charles Harmon Williams Jr. Charles Harmon Williams Jr., 79, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died on Saturday, December 25, 2010.

He was born April 19, 1931, in Roanoke, Virginia, the son of Charles Harmon Williams and Helen Cocke Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Julianna Garrett Williams; his daughter, Lawton Williams; and his sons, Charles Williams and Richard Williams.

Harmon moved to Charlottesville with his family in 1936. He graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1953 and served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army until 1955. Harmon and Julianna were married that same year and moved to New York City where he obtained his Masters of Science degree from New York University.

They returned to Charlottesville where Harmon directed his family's retail businesses. He then co-founded United Dominion Realty Trust.

Harmon would have wished to greatly thank the Jefferson Area Board for the Aging and the staff of Martha Jefferson Hospital.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Ivy, Virginia, with the Reverend Jane Sigloh officiating.
