Georgia L. Roach

Georgia L. Roach, 87, of Stanardsville went into the presence of the King of kings and Lord of lords with her family lovingly surrounding her at her home on Wednesday, September 22, 2010.

Georgia was born June 12, 1923, in Greene County, the daughter of the late George Fountain and Sarah Roach Frazier.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Victoria, Dora and Virgie Frazier; two brothers, Edward and Dewey Frazier; one nephew, Donald Dunivan.

She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, the Reverend Ellis Roach; four daughters, Janice and her husband, Wendell Lamb of Stanardsville, Joyce Sherrill of Ruckersville, Doris Deane of Stanardsville, Carolyn Sue and her husband, Ethan Shifflett, also of Stanardsville; one son, Lebert Roach and his wife, Janet of Elkton; seven grandchildren, Sandra and her husband, Jerry Michael Madison Sr., of Palmyra, Jeanette and her husband, Eric Lamb of Stanardsville, Joseph Sherrill and his wife, Elsa, of Ruckersville, Tammy Smith of Stanardsville, Phillip Lamb and his wife, Josephine, of Barboursville, Brandy and her husband, Kevin Johnson, of Stanardsville, Amanda and her husband, Mark Bennett, also of Stanardsville; 14 great- grandchildren; two step-grandsons, Anthony Lamb and his wife, Carolyn, of San Antonio, Texas, Jeffrey Lamb of Miami Beach, Florida; eight step-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Dunivan of Stanardsville; one niece, Margaret Smith of Stanardsville; and many other loving family members and friends.

Georgia was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren and also the mother of Nortonsville Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was a member of 60 years. She served as a song leader, Sunday School teacher and faithful helpmate to her husband, Ellis, while they faithfully worked for the Lord.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, September 26, 2010, at Nortonsville Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastors Frank Chapman and Rodney Olinger officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers for the service include Brother Shirley Roach, Brother J.R. Harris, Brother Richard Dickerson, Brother Sherwood Smith, Brother Kenny Shifflett and Brother David Jones.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010, at the Ryan Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Georgia's nurses, Mary and Heather and her nurse's aide, Kathy Roach from Hospice of the Piedmont.

Ryan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
