Gladys Orene Scott

Gladys Orene Scott, 77, of Lahore Road, Orange, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the Dogwood Village of Orange.

She was born June 14, 1931, in Spotsylvania County, the daughter of the late Arelious Fletcher and Mary Sacra Fletcher. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Elgie Scott.

She was a retired weaver at the American Silk Mill.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary S. Brown and her husband, Ronnie, of Orange; an adopted daughter, Lisa Anette Herring of Gordonsville; two sons, Robert Scott and his wife, Debbie, of Louisa and James Scott and his wife, Betty, of Orange; nine grandchildren, Tammy Rooks, Tracy Brown, Diana Breeden, Theresa Weber, Robert Scott Jr., James Scott II, Whitney Scott, Marvin Kimplin, Elgie Marks and Wendy Marks; two step-grandchildren, Paul Kimplin and Chuck Kimplin; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at the Preddy Funeral Chapel in Orange. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation, 674 Hillsdale Drive, Suite 1, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

Preddy Funeral Home of Orange is in charge of arrangements.
