Hanna Schubert Obituary

Published by Daily Progress from May 3 to May 4, 2010.
Hanna Elfriede Schubert

Hanna Elfriede Schubert was born on March 6, 1923, in Festenberg Germany, died on Saturday, May 1, 2010, in Charlottesville, Virginia, at age 87, of a brain hemorrhage at Martha Jefferson Hospital

She was the loving wife of Gerhard, who preceded her in death.

Surviving Hanna are her four children, Peter, Gerd, Barbara and Ulrich; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Hanna loved her family, friends and the outdoors. She especially loved flowers. Hanna was an immigrant of Germany and grew to love the United States of America with her family. She worked as a retail salesperson for many years with the Leggett group. She lived with her husband at Airport Acres in Charlottesville, tending to her garden and baking. She spent the last three½ years at Parkview on South Pantops Drive.

Hanna's strong religious beliefs brought her to the Maple Grove Christian Church and of late she participated in Bible Studies with the Broadus Memorial Baptist Church.

Donations or flowers may be sent to the church in memory of Hanna.

A memorial service has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Broadus Memorial Baptist Church, 1525 Stony Point Road, Charlottesville, Virginia.

Barbara,

We were so sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. I remember our Mom (Vivian Hunt) and your Mom talked to one another quite frequently. I believe they were in the Opals together. I use to bring Mom to church as she could not drive due to her illness. Mom passed away in 1993. We would sit on the back row with her pillow and blanket. Always remember that as much as we will miss them they will no longer be in pain and are in a much better place. Please tell Kim and Susan to always remember the good times with their grandmother. I will not be able to attend tomorrows services however my brother will. I know she will be missed by many.
