Irene Pierce Obituary
Irene Grinstead Pierce, 82, of Crozet, died Monday, November 30, 2009, at Martha Jefferson Hospital.
She was born on June 27, 1927, in Charlottesville, the daughter of the late Herbert Clyde and Lottie Patterson Grinstead.
She is survived by her husband, James Allen Pierce; a son, James Morris Fretwell Jr. and his wife, Freda; a daughter, Judith Fretwell Pugh and her husband, Brian, of Crozet; four grandchildren, James and Daniel Fretwell and Ashleigh and Dallas Pugh; a brother, Herbert Clyde Grinstead Jr. of Charlottesville; two sisters, Margie Houchins of Charlottesville and Marie Shifflett of Crozet.
She was a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.
The family wishes to extend appreciation for the devoted care Irene received from Dr. Lily Hargrove.
The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Western Albemarle Rescue squad, P.0. Box 188, Crozet, VA 22932 or SPCA, P.O. Box 7047, Charlottesville, VA 22906.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2009, at Hillsboro Cemetery in Crozet, with Dr. Alan Thompson officiating.
Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
