Jakie Bryant Obituary
Jakie Thelma Edwards Bryant, 96, of Scottsville, died Monday, December 27, 2010, at her home.
She was born December 17, 1914, in Atkins, Virginia, daughter of the late Jacob T. and Molly Bates Edwards.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Whitfield Lee Bryant Sr.; her brother, Carl Edwards; and nine of her half and step-siblings.
Jakie is survived by her children, Doris Rittenhouse and her husband, David, of Scottsville, Whitfield L. Bryant Jr. and his wife, Anna, of Waynesboro, Wilbur E. Bryant and his wife, Betty, of Littleton, Colorado, Herman W. Bryant and and his wife, Gladys, of Charlottesville, Carl E. Bryant and Roger L. Bryant of Charlottesville.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2010, at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home, Scottsville, with Dr. Clarke Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Scottsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Scottsville Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 550, Scottsville, VA 24590.
