James Roosevelt Watkins

James Roosevelt Watkins, 54, of Richmond, formerly of Arvonia, Virginia, died Friday, April 2, 2010.

He was born on June 24, 1955, to the late Leslie and Daisy Watkins. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Watkins and Welfar Miller.

He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Walker of Richmond; his 11 sisters, Janet Johnson and her husband, Gary, Anna Brice and her husband, Bruce, and Lucy Booker, all of Fork Union, Pearl Cousins and her husband, Jerry, Shirley Watkins and Gertrude Watkins, all of Palmyra, Mary Barlow and her husband, Norris, of Scottsville, Elizabeth Boone and her husband, Ceta, of Charleston City, Estelle Watkins of Buckingham, Diane Watkins of Charlottesville and Anne Campbell of Tappahannock; his four brothers, John Henley and his wife, Ruth, of King William, Frank Watkins and his wife, Joann of Palmyra, William Watkins and his wife, Jeannie, of Richmond, and George Watkins of Charlottesville; a grandchild, Neeya Walker; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Miller.

A funeral service has been set for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Arvonia, Virginia.

Friends may call at the Colbert Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2010.

Colbert Funeral Home of Bremo Bluff is in charge of arrangements.
