Joe Roy Gough

Joe Roy "Pete" Gough, 59, of Goughtown Road in Scottsville, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009, at Virginia Baptist Hospital.

He was born May 15, 1950, to Joe and Fancy Gough.

Pete accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at Mourner's Valley Baptist Church in Buckingham County, Virginia.

Pete was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Archie Gough and grandson, Ja'quin Johnson.

Surviving to cherish his memory include his parents, Joe and Fancy Gough; his loving, devoted companion, Louise "Lucy" Gaines of Scottsville; three sons, Joe Roy Gaines and his wife, Jennifer, of Esmont, Michael Gaines and his wife Angela, of Cumberland, Jarrod Gaines and his fiancee, Keisha, of Charlottesville; one daughter, Monique Gonzalez and her husband, Gerardo, of Scottsville; seven grandchildren, Michael Jr. "Mike-Mike", Ashley, Makayla, Caleb, Carlitos, Samantha, and Jarrod Jr.; one brother, Johnny Gough; four sisters, Gracie Gough and her husband, James, Dassa Chambers, Tammie Banks and her husband, Kelvin, all of Scottsville; Gaynelle Booker and her husband, Calvin, of Dillwyn; long-time friends, Leon Gough and David Gaines of Scottsville and Russell Gaines of Schuyler. He also leaves two aunts, three uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pete attended Buckingham public schools, was a supervisor of Kluge Farm in Albemarle County and worked as a pulpwood cutter. He loved working on cars and enjoyed the outdoors.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2009, at Ebenezer Baptist Church Burial will follow at Mourner's Valley Church cemetery.
