Lois Jane Rinehart Janssen, 91, of Charlottesville, passed away peacefully at home in Albemarle County on Thursday, May 13, 2010.

She was born on January 23, 1919, in Charlottesville, the daughter of the late William Alonzo Rinehart II and Lois Jane Smith.

Jane went to school at Warrenton Country Day School. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Alexander Patton "Pat" Janssen; and their three children, Virginia "Ginger Janssen Ashcom and her husband, David, of Free Union, Alexander "Alex" P. Janssen Jr. and his wife, Cherise, of Charlottesville, and Susenbeth Hollis "Holly" J. Davis and her husband, Mickey, also of Charlottesville; and her two children, Jane Lege Yager of Stanardsville and Frederick "Rick" Marion Lege IV and his wife, Terry, of Orem, Utah; nine grandchildren, David Edwin Ashcom Jr. of Crozet, Morgan Patton Ashcom of Ridgefield, Connecticut, Michael Seth Janssen of Annapolis, Maryland, Cara Jane Janssen of Charlottesville, Roxanne Rath Derlinga and her husband, Tom, of East Granby, Connecticut, Kimberly Rath Litman and her husband, Dan, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Patrick Michael Rath and his wife, Kim, of Stanardsville, Stephen Morgan Lege and his wife, Sarah, of Visalia, California, and Ryan Frederick Lege and his wife, Sayuri, of Orem, Utah; and 10 great- grandchildren, Lincoln Alexander Ashcom of Crozet, Haley Derlinga and Paige Derlinga of Connecticut, Stephanie Litman and Justin Litman of North Carolina, and Austin Rath and Logan Rath of Stanardsville, Madelyn Lege and Sydney Lege of California and Kiina Lege of Utah.

Jane's family extends a special thanks to Barbara Sampson and Darcella Stinnie for their kind and compassionate care.

Services will be private at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
