Marian Burton Walker

Marian Burton Walker Mrs. Marian Burton Walker, 95, of North Garden, departed this life on Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at John Randolph Hospital in Hopewell, Virginia. Marian resided in Petersburg, Virginia. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Cary Carter Burton; and her husband, Howard Walker. She was educated in the public schools of Albemarle County. At an early age she accepted Christ and became a life member of Zion Baptist Church, North Garden, Virginia, where she served as a Deaconess, choir member and membership in several organizations. Her memories will be forever cherished by her children, Otelia W. Greene and her husband, Julian, of Petersburg, Virginia, Clyde A. Walker and his wife, Pamela, of North Garden, Virginia, and Robert W. Walker and his wife, Cheryl, of Glen Allen, Virginia; grandchildren, Karen W. Whitfield and her husband, Renard of Newport News, Virginia, J. LaMaar Greene of Petersburg, Virginia, Robert A. Walker and his wife, Tamu, of Richmond, Virginia, and Ann C. Richardson and her husband, Cornell, of Mecklenburg, Virginia; extended grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her devoted nephew, Julian "Rock" Burton of Richmond, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Anna B. Thompkins of Charlottesville, Virginia; former daughters-in-law, Ellen C. Walker of Mecklenburg, Virginia, and Katie Y. Williams of Charlottesville, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Zion Baptist Church, North Garden with the Reverend Halliard Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
