Marjorie Cole Ford

Marjorie Cole Ford of Charlottesville, died suddenly on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital.

She was born on November 30, 1925, in Durham, North Carolina, and was a graduate of the University of North Carolina. She was the widow of Emmet Brown Ford Jr., and she and her husband spent 30 years living in Europe and the Middle East. Upon his retirement from the Foreign Service, they came to live in Charlottesville and she played an active part in the community.

She was a member of the English Speaking Union, The Contemporary Club and the Garden Club. As a member of the Jefferson Bridge Association, she spent many happy hours playing bridge.

She is survived by her son, Geoffrey Ford; her daughters, Dr. Marjorie Huntley of Winchester, England, and her husband, Matthew, and their daughters, Charlotte; Laura Blinten and her husband, Jerry, and Dr. Caroline Ford and her husband, Dr. Sanjay Subrahmanyam.

Private graveside services will be conducted on Friday, October 1, 2010.
