Mary Taylor Minor

Mary Taylor Minor, 83, died peacefully after a long illness on Monday, December 28, 2009, at The Cedars in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Mary was baptized on July 12, 1958, and was a member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Gordonsville, Virginia. She retired from the Orange County Nursing Home in 1981, where she worked for many years as a nurse's assistant.

She was born on April 26, 1926, the daughter of Ada Tate Brown and James Brown, Mary grew up in Gordonsville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, James, Kate, Frank and Adelphia "Dot".

She is survived by husband, William E. Minor; one brother, Fred Brown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and seven children, Michael Lewis, Steven Lewis, Glenda Hill, Karen Quarles, Darlene Morton, Selwyn Lewis Jr., and Cheryll Lewis, all residing in the Orange, Louisa, and Albemarle County areas. Her four step- children, Estelle , Sheila, Roland, and Michael Minor are also among her survivors and join her 19 grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends who will miss her.

A memorial service will be held in Gordonsville, Virginia, 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Route 33 East.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Staff of Unit 2 at The Cedars, 1242 Cedars Court, Charlottesville, VA 22093. We are ever so grateful for the care given to our mother by them.
