David,
I was so saddened to learn of the death of your mother. She and I were teammates for several years at Walker when you were younger. She was one of the most creative ladies I have ever known. She was a much stronger person than she realized. She loved you dearly and would have done anything for you (and did). You and your brother are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mary was wonderfully warm-hearted; she reached out to anyone troubled or needing someone to listen. I will miss my conversations with her, especially about our shared love of Hans Christian Andersen stories. I am reminded of the ending to the "Little Match Girl"--"nobody knew what beautiful visions she had seen, nor in what a halo she had entered..."

Just a short message of condolence from the UK. I had the pleasure and privilege of knowing Mary for four years and in that time we became very good friends. She never ceased to amaze me how she bounced back from so many setbacks and it was a pleasure to know this lovely lady. To say I'm devastated is an understatement and my thoughts are with all her family and friends. Geoff. (UK)

Cullen, your Mom and I used to talk about your kindergarten days with me at Greenbrier when I was working with her at Walker. My thoughts and prayers are with you and David.

David and Cullen, please know you are in my prayers and how sorry I am for your loss. I had been in touch with Mary just last Sunday and was planning a vist in 2 weeks. Please do not hesitate to call me or ask for anythng you may need. Love you very much even though the distance has kept part of your family in NC away.
