I was shocked to find out that Melisande had passed. I had no idea she was even sick. She was such a sweet woman to me and my family when I had first moved to Cville. It is rare to run into people so tuned to helping others without asking for anything in return. I hope that the pain of her passing will be lessened by the wonder memories of her life.

My deepest sympathies to Lissy's family. I had the great pleasure of working with her a number of years ago. She added a tremendous amount of warmth, humor and spirit to our office. Such a wonderful person and lovely soul. I am thankful to have known her, and saddened by the loss.

I am very shocked and so deeply saddened by the news of Melisande's passing. I was just thinking/speaking of her the other day, though the last time I had the pleasure of seeing her was at my wedding 5 years ago. I worked with her for a couple of years and we developed a very strong friendship from the moment I met her. She was such an amazing person and had a real appreciation for the beauty of life. She did the most kind things for me and, with me being young and naive at the time, she was always protective of me in difficult situations. I have missed her in these past few years and will continue to miss her on this earth. I am so thankful that I had the chance to know such a beautiful and unique person.

Mr. & Mrs. Savory & Grenelle & family, It broke my heart to hear that she was not able to prevail in her fight with cancer. She was a good friend and we had so many good times together. She will be greatly missed.

Lissy's family. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Lissy's struggle. We worked together as travel agent's years ago and we had a good time together. Her animal names were so cleaver and creative and I know how she loved them all. I am so sorry for your loss. Polly Andrews

I worked beside Lissy for many years at AAA. We rode horses together, had coffee together, and talked for hours and hours. We lost touch and I was in total shock when I read about her passing. She will truly be missed and I too wish I could have 1 more day...1 more cup of coffee...one more long talk. I will truly miss a dear dear friend.

My wife Anne and I were really saddened when hearing about the end of Melisande's long courageous fight. It is not like her to ever give up. How brave and now at peace. I will miss her wonderful spirit and positive attitude when visiting Blue Ridge School, where I had the pleasure of working with her. We will miss you.

I worked with Lissy way back when she was at AAA travel in the late 80s for 4 years. She was the most diligent and trustworthy agent I had the pleasure of working with in a stressful environment. We both moved on and I was pleasantly surprised to see Blue Ridge saw her talents and hired her. I enjoyed seeing her on my visits to Blue Ridge and chatting about our long standing friendship and life in general. She was an extremely brave person facing a horrible disease. I am greatly saddened by her passing and her many friends and I will miss her.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Savory and Grenelle,
You have my deepest sympathy. Lissy was an amazing woman! Although I cared for her only briefly, I admired her tenacity, grace and dogged determination to overcome cancer. How agonizing it was to witness the unshakable hold of the disease despite your love and support and all the efforts of modern medicine. No one could have fought harder.
Her obituary is a beautiful tribute to a woman who made a difference and is deeply loved. May God rest her sweet soul and give you comfort in the days ahead.

TO THE FAMILY, MY PRAYERS AND CONDOLENCES TO YOU, BUT MOST OF ALL MY THANKS FOR SHARING SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SPIRIT WITH ME AND MY FAMILY. MY SON'S (HOT ROD) FIRST YEAR AT BLUE RIDGE, ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE I MET WAS MELISANDE, BEAUTIFUL PERSON AND FRIEND. BY THE END OF THAT SCHOOL YEAR SHE WAS MY SISTER. FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS I WOULD CALL THE SCHOOL KNOWING THAT SHE WOULD ANSWER THE PHONE, JUST TO SAY HELLO. SHE WOULD OFTEN CALL ME JUST TO BE SURE THAT I WAS COMING TO THE RIDGE, WHETHER IT BE FOR A SPORTS EVENT, PARENT'S WEEKEND OR EVEN SENIOR NIGHT. I REALLY LOOKED FORWARD TO TALKING TO HER. DURING THE SPRING OF 2010 I BEGAN TO MISS HER, NO CALLS, NO ANSWERING THE PHONES, AND THEN WHEN I FINALLY TALKED WITH HER SHE SHARED WITH ME WHAT WAS GOING ON. IT SEEMED LIKE A PART OF ME JUST WENT VOID. MELISANDE WILL GREATLY BE MISSED. BUT I MUST SAY ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR SHARING HER WITH ME, HOT-ROD, AND JEREMIAH.

The first day I walked into our office at Blue Ridge School to interview for my job, I knew Melisande and I would be friends forever. That is the kind of person she was. She was interested in everything and everyone. She made you feel special and she was really the special one. I will never forget our shopping trip to Belk, planning our trip to the Outer Banks - a special place to us both - which she couldn't go on because of her illness, her love of all animals, especially her precious dogs, Thistle, Whistle, Whisper and Salu, our Dancing Queen routine, and many, many more times we spent together just talking and laughing and having our morning coffee together. Melisande was such an important part of my life for the 2 1/2 years that I knew her -although it felt as if we had known each other all our lives. I know she will be with us at Blue Ridge still because she loved it so. So - here is a toast to Melisande, my Dancing Queen companion and dear, dear friend. I hope they have good bourbon where you are because I know you will be toasting us all - your friends and family - with the love that we will always feel from you and we will be toasting you right back. I will look forward to one day seeing you again and am confident that we will then be together at the beach, swimming in the ocean and performing Dancing Queen in the sand. I love you, my forever friend.

I too worked with Melisande several years ago and am deeply saddened. We saw each other this summer with another old colleague and as usual had a wonderful visit with her. Tho we did not see her a lot these last years it was always a lot of fun when we did get together. Tony and I send our deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

I can only hope Melisande was watching when a uniform sadness beset the boys, her boys, upon learning of her passing. There can be no doubt that this pall was caused by the fact that they either had the joy of knowing Melisande or, if they did not, were moved by the reaction of someone who did.
Melisande, you will always be a Baron.

Dearest Walt, Theo and Grenelle,
How very saddened we are with the loss of our Lissy. She was such a wonderful and special person who touched everyone she knew. Her huge capacity for loving animals was truly a gift. We have so many happy and fond memories of spending the day with you all and Lissy at Montpelier. Lissy was always the "go to person" when we were placing our bets on the horses and she usually was right! I know that she is looking down from above along with mother and her smile and infectious laughter will be felt by us and all who are now with her. God's garden will always be in bloom and beautiful with Lissy there. Her compassion and love of animals has left us all with a lasting impression and appreciation for nature. Every time I see the deer in our yard or hear the bark of a dog, it will bring a smile to my face because I know Lissy was there. She will be missed more than any of us can fathom, but the wonderful memories of her will always remain in our hearts forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and just know that all of the lives touched by Lissy will remain with us for eternity.
Love, Mike, Peggy, Jon and Corey

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family of Lissie. I met Lissie many years ago through a friend of mine. It was discovered that I had ridden a pony, Spice, that Lissie owned at that time. I was introduced to her, @1980, but did not become closer friends until my return to VA in 2007. She was such a sweet friend and we shared our love of animals together. I will truly miss her and hope to someday be reunited with her in heaven. June D.
