Patrick McCauley Obituary

Published by Daily Progress from Oct. 23 to Oct. 25, 2009.
Patrick Orme McCauley

Patrick Orme McCauley, 79, of Earlysville, died Friday, October 16, 2009, at his residence.

He was born January 3, 1930, in Charlottesville, the son of the late Malcolm A. and Edra D. McCauley.

Pat grew up in Charlottesville and graduated from Lane High School. He served in the United States Army Paratroopers and was later employed by VEPCO and the United States Postal Service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Malcolm K. "Monk" McCauley and Don O. McCauley and his wife, Marie.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Thyrza Brooking McCauley, and daughters, Mary M. Lane and Tracy K. McCauley, all of Earlysville; a granddaughter, Jennifer M. Lane of Richmond; a sister-in-law, Barbara McCauley-Simmons; and nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to our friends and extended family for their constant acts of kindness and generosity throughout the past year. The many expressions of encouragement and compassion meant so much to us and have been very helpful and greatly appreciated.

At Pat's request his body was donated for scientific research through the State Anatomical Program in Richmond and no memorial service will be held.

We were so sorry to hear about your loss. In speaking to you at "the family reunion" I knew you all were going through a rough time. We have the (unfortunate) shared experience of watching our loved ones suffer for too long. Let's hope there is a Great Beyond, and Pat, my dad, and Monk are all resored to youth, and riding bicycles in heaven.

Sincere condolences from son of the late Willard and Adgile McCauley. Willard was a brother of Malcolm. Unfortunately have lost contact with relatives over the years. My wife and I wish special blessings to all the family.
