Rae Kellermann Obituary

Published by Daily Progress on Sep. 4, 2008.

Rae Kellermann

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Rae Kellermann, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home at The Colonnades, on Tuesday morning, September 2, 2008.

Rae had been a resident of The Colonnades since 1996, where she enjoyed long walks around the grounds, playing bridge and dominoes and bingo, and visiting with her son and his family who live nearby.

She was born January 25, 1912, in Worcester, Massa-chusetts, to Joseph and Jenny Goodstein, and was the fifth of their eight children. After she graduated from Classical High School in Worcester, the family moved to Brooklyn, where Rae met and married her husband, Alexander Kellermann.

Eventually, the couple settled in Great Neck, Long Island, New York. Rae was an energetic athlete, and especially enjoyed golf and bowling. But she always said her most important role was mother and mentor of their three children, all of whom she was inordinately proud. Her husband preceded her in death in 1983.

Rae always astounded everyone with her robust health, which only failed her in the final months of her life. She will be sadly missed by her son, Kenneth Kellermann and his wife, Michele, of Charlottesville, Virginia; daughters, Sharon Kellermann of Warren, Vermont, and Bonny Kellermann, of Brookline, Massachusetts; and granddaughter, Sarah Kelsey, and her husband, Timothy, of Charlottesville, Virginia.

A graveside service for the immediate family will take place on Friday, September 5, 2008, at Elmont Cemetery, Elmont, New York.
