William Kellermann Obituary
Dr. William C. Kellermann Jr., 75, Washington, passed away May 20, 2025.
He was born March 4, 1950, in St. Louis to the late William C. Kellermann, Sr. and Lorraine (nee Myers) Kellermann. He graduated from Northwest High School in House Springs, Missouri, and earned his undergraduate degree in special education from Webster College (now Webster University) in Webster Groves, Missouri. Bill received a master's degree in psychology from the University of Missouri/St. Louis, and his Ph.D. in educational psychology from St. Louis University. On June 5, 1982, he was united in marriage to Pamela Moll at the Presbyterian Church in Washington.
Bill taught history at Washington Middle School and then became a psychology examiner for the Washington School District. He loved working with middle school youngsters and believed that many children change dramatically in the seventh and eighth grades. He liked being part of their lives at that juncture and expanded his professional experience by working with youth in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, church, and later in his private therapy practice. Bill was also on the adjunct faculty at Central Methodist College (now Central Methodist University) in Union, Missouri.
As an active member of the Presbyterian Church, he served as an ordained elder, chaired many committees, and taught both children and adults in Sunday School. During his time as a youth group leader, he traveled to numerous work camps with both teens and adults. At one outdoor social event for church families, the other adults provided snacks and sodas for the group. Bill showed up with a horse that everyone could pet.
Equine-assisted therapy was a special interest of Bill's and in his private practice he offered this specialized therapy to many of his young clients and their families. He loved horses, appreciated their easy nature, their sensitivity to human emotions, and their suitability in allowing clients to share difficult emotions or experiences with the therapist.
Although much of Bill's work was at a desk, he loved physical labor, and it was a rare weekend from spring to fall when he didn't get outdoors and break a sweat. He applied his strong work ethic to every activity he did, even the most challenging ones. Bill's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, indoors or outdoors. Even when he was restricted to his wheelchair, he loved interacting with them. All the grandchildren enjoyed climbing up on Pop Pop's lap and were happy when they got to ride with him on his power chair around the spacious home property.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Among his survivors are his wife, Pamela Kellermann, Washington; three children, Andrew Kellermann (Mandy Sellers), Chicago, Illinois; Lauren J. Kellermann, Washington; and Philip Kellermann (Gabbi), Ballwin, Missouri; siblings Patricia Radcliffe (Steve Schiller), El Paso, Texas, and Thomas Kellermann (Thomas Bolman), St. Louis; grandchildren, Sam, Annie, Will, and Josie Kellermann; two nieces, a nephew, and many loving cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, May 30, at Nieburg-Vitt Miller Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held a 10 a.m., Saturday, May 31, at the Presbyterian Church of Washington, with burial and luncheon to follow.
Memorial donations can be made to the Presbyterian Church of Washington or the Mother of Good Counsel Home in St. Louis.
