Raymond Miller "Dick" Norford

Raymond Miller "Dick" Norford, 72, of Charlottesville, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2010, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born October 11, 1938, the son of the late Raymond Miller Norford and Lorenza Wood Norford. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Kathleen Norford Kennedy, Barbara Norford Gentry and Arsby Durrell Norford.

He was employed by Comcast for 36 years. Dick was a faithful member of Cherry Avenue Christian Church and an active member of the Men's Class.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Waller Ann Newman Norford; their daughter, Annette Norford Spanel and her husband, Michael Andrew Spanel, their son, Kenneth Miller Norford and his wife, Michele Glenn Norford, and their daughter, Maria Waller Norford. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Ashlyn and Kayley Norford, Jack and Zoe Topper, and Elizabeth Spanel.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at Cherry Avenue Christian Church with Mr. James Sanderson officiating. Interment will follow at Preddy's Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 8, 2010, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to either the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy., Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911 or to Mountain Mission School, 1760 Edgewater Dr., Grundy, VA 24614.
