Wayne Edward Birckhead
Wayne Edward Birckhead, 59, of Charlottesville, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2009, at a local hospital.
He was born on May 2, 1950, in Charlottesville, the son of the late Willis W. Jr and Goldie Morris Birckhead.
Wayne worked for Parham Construction Company for over 30 years. In his spare time he loved hunting and spending time in the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Betty Lou Birckhead; a daughter, Sherrie Denise Reed and her husband, Kirk, of Charlotte, North Carolina; a son, Larry Wayne Peregoy of Charlottesville; a granddaughter, Kalyn Elyse Reed; a sister, Carolyn Wells and her husband, David, of Barboursville; a brother, Willis Wood Birckhead III and his wife, Carla, of Ruckersville; a niece, Stephanie Buck and her husband, Jeff, of Barboursville; two great- nieces, Carestin Brooke Buck and Morgan McKenzie Buck; a great-nephew, Zachary Ryan Buck; and his two best buddies, Zeke and Kasey.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1445 East Rio Road, Charlottesville, Virginia 22901.

To our Family, as we stood with Wayne and watched him leave us to go to a better place, each and everyone had there moments of walking down memory lane, we cried together , we spoke to him in our own way. Brother Wayne has gone to fly with the angels now. We will always remember him and the funny things he would say or do. He loved each us in his way, especially Carestin,Morgan,Zach and Nick.
Betty, God is with you and is carrying you and he will continue to do so each and every day. Wayne will never leave you and will always be in your heart and soul.
David & Carolyn, You as being the baby girl, this is the hardest for you but God is with both you in this time, God is also carrying you.
Jeff & Stephanie & our beautiful Great Neice’s & Nephew, You have done so much for your Uncle Wayne & Aunt Betty I am so proud to have you as our Neice, God is carrying you all also. You will never forget the Saturday nights that Brother Wayne brought you laughter and making sure the kids got some candy without you knowing it.
Kurt & Sherry & Kaylan, God is walking with you all, Kaylan, Popa knows how much you loved him and he knew that your school is important.
Larry, know that God is walking with you at this time to make the right decisions, Brother Wayne only wanted the best for you in his own way.
Mike & Anthony, We know that God will see you through the loss of Uncle Wayne.
To my dearest Husband Dusty, God will walk with us and I will be your strength, we have shared so many memories with Brother Wayne and Betty that we will cherish each and everytime that we have had.
And last but not least Brother Wayne go with the Angels and fly, we will see you again one day and we will rejoice in the heavens. We love you and will miss you dearly.
REMEMBER ON FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND, God is carrying us through this time……
