Willard Leroy Herring

Willard Leroy Herring, 73, of Earlysville, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at a local hospital.

Born February 11, 1937, in Charlottesville, he was the son of the late James Garfield and Lydia Margaret Morris Herring and was the husband of the late Laura Breeden Herring.

In addition, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Herring; a brother, James N. Herring; a sister, Juanita H. Davis; brother-in-laws, Maurice "Rick" Barbour and Robert "Bob" Hughes; and nieces, Robin Morris and Stephanie Hughes.

He is survived by a son, Randall L. Herring and his companion, Alicia Forbes; a daughter, Pamela D. Herring; three grandsons, Ty M. Herring, Trevor L. Herring and Jordan L. Woodson; sisters, Phyllis Barbour of Charlottesvile, Shirley Morris and her husband, Harold, of Charlottesville, Betty Shifflett and her husband, Jimmy, of Earlysville, and Judy Hughes of Charlottesville; brother, Donald Herring and his wife, Virginia, of Dyke; step-mother, Retha Herring of Crozet; brother-in-law, Herbert Davis of Scottsville; sister-in-law, Dorothy D. Herring of Charlottesville; and devoted friends, Leroy and Freda Shifflett of Free Union.

A memorial gathering will be conducted from 5 until 6p.m. Monday, January 3, 2011, at the Teague Funeral Home.
