Donald McFarland Obituary

McFARLAND, Donald D. Donald Duncan McFarland, 77, passed away at home after a struggle with COPD and cancer. Don was born in Bunkie, Louisiana, July 29, 1940, the son of the late James Frank and Annie (Duncan) McFarland. He graduated from C.E.Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1958 and attended Louisiana Tech University graduating in 1963 with a degree in accounting. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity and was an active alumni throughout his life. He began his career in 1965 with Collins Radio which became Rockwell International. He enjoyed his work for over 35 years until his retirement and was proud to have earned his CPA. Donald was Commodore of the White Rock Sailing Club in Dallas when he and his wife, Shirley, met. He played tennis and was a passionate guitar player. He enjoyed com-puters, politics, movies, family genealogy research and was an avid reader. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley Gregston McFarland; his son, Roderic McFarland and 3 granddaughters, Fallon McFarland, Murron Mc-Farland and Kali MacKenzie; brother, John McFarland and his wife Melissa of El Dorado, AR; sister, Marianne Eagleson and her husband, Bill of Cheshire, CT; many nephews and nieces.
