Edwin Schmitt Obituary

Schmitt II., Edwin L. 57, died April 9. A Wichita native, Ed earned an Associates from Richland and a BA from UTD, both in Theatre and worked in the arts in Dallas for over 30 years including 10 years at the Dallas Theatre Center. Ed spent the last 16 years in Stage Operations at the Meyerson Symphony Center. He leaves behind his wife of 20 years and their daughter, father, mother, sister, two brothers, extended family and friends. A celebration of Ed's life will be held April 21 at 10am at the Meyerson.

Ed was a good guy. I knew him in school where we both did theatre. He and I were both interested in the same gal, who ended up marrying someone else. I envied the fact that he stuck with theatre and stage management when I went off and did other things. I really admired him for that and for being a solid, grounded, decent guy.
