James Donnell Obituary

Donnell, James James Donnell, a humble and dedicated servant, left this earth Tuesday, January 16, 2013 to be a permanent resident of his home in heaven. Following that time of service, he joined the Oak Cliff Bank and Trust and served there the rest of his banking career. He served as president of that bank from 1987 until his retirement in 1996. James was a member and president of the American Institute and Banking, the Optimist Club, The Oak Cliff Bank and Trust, and an active participant in the American Cancer Society. James was a member of the First Baptist Church, Dallas, member of the Criswell Bible Class and later the Presidents' Bible Class where he served as president in 2011-2012. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Dallas, serving as an active deacon. James Donnell was humble and committed to his Lord, his wife, his church and his community. Great boss and genuine person to work for. Banking is just not the same these days. Rest in peace Mr. Donnell.

I worked for Mr. Donnell at Republic Bank Oak Cliff from 1983 to 1990. He was a great boss and a wonderful man. He knew the name of everyone of his employees no matter what position they held. I am so sorry to loose him, but I know God is glad to have him in his house.

Dorothy and I were very saddened to read of James's passing. As a retired banker myself (FNB in Dallas/InterFirst) I was privileged to know him through a number of banking activities. We fondly remember being invited to dinner at James and Jean's home in Oak Cliff. Farewell, friend!

I was deeply saddened to learn the news of Mr. Donnell's sudden death. Every day I could count on his warm humor and quiet dignity in even the most acrimonious situations. He was a great mentor and leader. If ever a man lived his faith, it was James Donnell. He will be missed greatly.

What a great mentor, leader and friend.
I have many fond memories of Mr. Donnell.
I learned a great deal under his leadership and we had many fun times. We used to kid together about his Christmas party slacks...I think of him often and smile. I am thankful he has been an important part of my life.

Mr. Donnell was the most gracious person. He had impeccable manners. He was instantly likeable. I have known him most of my life. He was a big part of our family. He will be greatly missed.
