Clarence was my roommate our freshman year at the University of Cincinnati. He was smart and had a wonderful sense of humor.
I am not at all surprised at the accomplishment and positions he attained in his life.
Rest in peace,my friend.

I got to know Clarence and his father as a fellow Boy Scout with Troop 205. During those campouts I got to know well that inner drive he had to always do the best you could with what you had and do a good job. Rest in Peace my old friend.

Clarence Bowman Jr., was one of the greatest businessmen I've ever known. He was an even better friend and philanthropist. I had the pleasure of managing the funeral home for about 5 years, and really learned a lot from him. He was more like a father than a boss. I can honestly say that I was one of the very, very few people that really got to know him on a personal level. He and I traveled all over and always had loads of fun. He always spoiled me. When he purchased his apartments I had the pleasure of picking out the furniture and other luxuries that he filed the place with. We spent everyday after work doing something. I say at the hospital with him for over a month when he had his first major stroke. I was first person he asked for when he woke from his month long coma. Clarence accomplished a lot during his active years and had a strong sense of community and how to serve his community. I not only worked for him I was a friend and confidant. There are only a handful of people who can say they actually knew Clarence, on a personal level and Talbert Grooms, and I, and maybe 2 or 3 other people know a lot of info and likes and dislikes that he wouldn't share with most people. I will never forget Clarence and will always cherish the time that we shared as friends and confidants. Rest Peacefully Clarence.

Yes, a piece of history is gone from Dayton funeral service. Though change has brought a new era. Bowman Funeral Home was indeed the community funeral home. I started my career in funeral service at Bowman's in 1974. Junior as we affectionately called him always pushed you to excel higher and never settle for mediocrity. A firm believer in education. The Bowman's always buried you whether you had money or not, many would say was bad business. But they overcame it because they truly believed God was in control of their decisions. I'm forever grateful for my opportunity extended to me by the Bowman Family. My success today is in funeral service started with Junior's father. Thank's for the memories Junior....RIP

Like most people in the Dayton area you know the Bowman's family. Either the funeral home in your neighborhood or through death in your family or friends. My funny story of Clarence is during an encounter at an appointment to buy a home discount membership. He was giving the salesperson a hard time. He fired off question after question. The salesperson was sweating and either through the person not folding or Clarence got tired he bought the membership. May the family know that his presence has been missed in the Dayton community for sometime now. Gone too soon.
