Mary Reisinger-Schwinn Obituary

News Death Notice

REISINGER-SCHWINN, Mary Louise (Barlow) (Daughter of Louisa Hodapp Barlow Brinkman and Leo J. Barlow of Dayton, Ohio). Age 88, of Kettering, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2011 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Reisinger (39 years) and her second husband, Jack Schwinn (12 years), also two brothers Gene and Jim Barlow. She is survived by her seven children and spouses: Mike (Jane) Reisinger, Tom (Margo) Reisinger, Terri (Michael) Fusco, Patricia (Chris) Hale, MaryLee (Patrick) Dunphy, Tim (Jeanne) Reisinger, Susie (Phil) Goedde; 14 loving grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her 2 sisters and brother-in-law, Janice Gillivan and Jayne (Jim) Lohr, and many nieces and nephews. She was born on April 4, 1922 in Dayton, where she attended St. Anthony's Elementary School and graduated from Julienne High School in 1940. She was a secretary at WPAFB after graduation. Marylou was a loving mother and wife. She was also a very proud grandmother and gave each of her grandchildren special loving nicknames. Besides raising seven children with her husband, Paul Reisinger (also born April 4), Marylou volunteered for numerous organizations including St. Albert the Great Church, Dakota Center, and Bergamo Retreat Center. She taught positive attitude and self-esteem classes for over 35 years. As a motivational speaker, she touched the lives of people from all walks of life. Marylou served on the Board of Governors for the University of Dayton's Institute for Learning in Retirement. She was also an active member of Toastmasters International and was the first woman invited to join this organization in Kettering. She created two support groups; one for widowed women called WAGS and another called PALS (Positive Attitude Lifestyles) for single adults who attended her workshops. She was a great entertainer and never missed a party. She leaves a legacy of love with an emphasis on the importance of faith, family, and education. Her life was a celebration of joy and love. Marylou was an inspiration to all who knew her. Our lives were blessed because she was our mother and friend who always encouraged us to think positive, share our talents and do our very best. Since red was Marylou's favorite color, it has been requested that everyone wear something red to the funeral in honor of all the color and fun Marylou added to our lives. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45429. Not sure what to say?

Dear Patty, Mike, Marylee, Terri and entire Reisinger family,
What a beautiful service you had for your mom. I could truly feel her smile the entire time. She is so proud of all of you. You are such a special family and your mom and dad were very special people. Your mom's smile embraced me many times, as did her arms. She was so loving. She was a also a dear friend of mom's. They shared noon masses together as well as many other intimate heart chats. I am a better person because of knowing your mom and I know so many others are too. I express my sympathies to all of you. I know that it is a blessing to know that your mom is in God's loving arms and yet we will still miss her worldly presence. I also want to acknowledge what great care and devotion you all showed to your mom. Love, Susie Danis Grossmann

On behalf of the other Barlow Family, I wish to extend my sincerest condolences to Mary Lou's extended family on her passing. Extraordinary is a poor word to choose when describing Mary Lou, and I know that many fine words will be said in her name at the upcoming services. I wish I could be there. I will be wearing red on Friday, and will be placing the entire clan in a white frame in her honor. God bless Mary Lou and all her kin. Love and peace.

Terri and Family,
Mary Lou was my girl scout leader in the 50's/60's. She was such an inspiration and positive part of my life. Your mother is in the loving arms of Jesus and back with your dad where some day you will all join them. Let all the great memories you have of them be a comfort to you in the coming seasons of your lives. Take care and God bless your family at this difficult time. Gina Scholz(Balonier)
