He was my favorite teacher of all time. I was in his art class sometime between 2007-2008. I am a middle school teacher now and I often think about how much of an impact he had on me. I was absolutely horrible at art, but I loved his class. (Now that I am a teacher though I realized that this is one of the biggest compliments you can receive from a student.) He was the type of teacher that genuinely cared about his students. I am sure he is still missed by those that knew him.

I wanted to post something because I have thought of him a few times this past week. Even though he was my teacher over a decade ago I still remember him and the kindness he showed me when I was in middle school. As a teacher know how much of an impact a little kindness, honesty, and encouragement can help a child. I certainly know how much he helped me. He was one of the greats.

I am saddened by the news that Mr.D. has passed away. He will be remembered for his caring and supportive nature, his objectivity, and, of course, for his artistic talent. What a gifted teacher and what a wonderful person; he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I am a seventeen year old student at Mason High School. Mr. Dave Daugherty was my art teacher in 7th grade. One thing I remember is that I had never enjoyed an art class so much until I walked into his classroom. He had such a dynamic personality, he was funny and all the students loved him. I remember looking at his painting in awe and wondering how someone could be so patient and take so much care to make such pieces. He was an amazing artist and spectacular teacher. I know he touched the hearts of many students here at Mason. The news of his death has shocked and stunned many and he will not be forgotten. My heart and prays go out to his family. I hope that they can find comfort in knowing that he made such a great impact on his students and will not be forgotten by any Mason student lucky enough to have him as a teacher.

I am an 18 year old student at Mason High school, and I was extremely sad to hear the announcement of Mr. Daugherty's death today in school. I knew he had been sick but I was not aware it was so severe.
The sudden anoucement today caused me to think back to seventh grade, when he was my art teacher. He was always very elated to be teaching his art classes, and all of the students loved his positive attitude. My friends and I loved his class and looked forward to it during the day, because he seemed to be the only teacher to teach us on a personal level. He highly enjoyed his job, and the students enjoyed having him.
I know it will be impossible to fill his spot at the Middle School because I have never met a teacher so happy and content to be at school.
I hope his family is able to deal with his death knowing that he will not be forgotten by his students.
