News Death Notice

BOECKERMAN, Jerome B. "Jerry" Age 67, of Kettering, OH passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2008, after an extended illness. He was born April 10, 1941 in Dayton, OH to Clarence H. and Amy G. (Lawyer) Boeckerman, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Paul Knapke. Jerry was a loving husband, father and grandfather who is survived by his wife, of 42 years, Wanda L. (McCoy) Boeckerman of Kettering; his son and daughter-in-law, Ted E. and Christina L. Boeckerman and their children, Dylan and Casey, of Cincinnati, OH; his daughter and son-in-law, Michele L. and Michael L. Sharp and their children, Bryce, Garrett and Marissa, of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Joan Knapke, of Centerville, OH , Carol and husband, Warner Van Horne, of Kettering, OH; a sister-in-law, Sally Wallace of Xenia, OH; and several nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Chaminade High School and had attended the University of Dayton. Jerry was a retired partner in Consolidated Millwork Supply, Inc. Jerry was a 30 year member of Faith Community United Methodist Church in Xenia and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam Era from 1963-65. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed playing, coaching and observing, especially golf and fishing. Jerry was active with his childrens' activities and establishing the Xenia High School Athletic Booster Club. Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Friday, August 15, 2008, at the Faith Community United Methodist Church, 100 Country Club Drive, Xenia, OH with Pastor Robert Mc Dowell officiating. The family will receive friends at the Tobias Funeral Home- Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road from 5-8 P.M. Thursday, August 14, 2008. Interment will follow the services at Mt. Zion Shoup Cemetery, Beavercreek, OH. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Kettering Medical Center Intensive Care and Cardiac Care Units for the care and compassion shown to Jerry. If desired, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Faith Community United Methodist Church. Wanda and Family,
