I have a special place in my heart for both Joe and Joy Haines. When I ran for office years ago, they took me under their wings and they helped me to get through those times. With their patience with me and their wonderful, spiritual advice, and with God's help, I managed to get through. I was also honored to meet their children (I even took a family picture of them on Easter of 1986) in their home in Xenia. I wish you all God's blessings. The world is a better place because of you all. John Herzog

Joe was a great man and he was very kind and patient with me. His wife Joy was also a kind and patient person with me. Though I did not succeed in my run for another office, they were always there to encourage me and to calm my fears. They both touched many lives and I know that they have touched God's heart with their own lives. I will always cherish them as dear friends and I only wish that I could have been a better friend to them in return for their warmth and kindness. God bless them and their wonderful family. I had the honor of serving with Joe for 14 years in the Ohio House. He was always polite and friendly, and he was a great resource on agricultural issues. I am saddened at his passing.

Condolences to Joy and all of their family. We have many good memories of Joe and his family from years in the past, when they were our good neighbors on the farm and more. Among those memories that stick in my mind were the bags of candy that Joe left for us in our mailbox most every Christmas morning, even when the snow was deep. Have good memories of Joe's father, Ralph, and his brother, Dick, too, and the many times we tended to hogs together, and how our father and all of the local neighbors helped Joe, the year he was injured during harvest season. John Storer and family.
